One of our researchers from the Faculty of Arts (CUNI), Dr. Adrian Jan Zasina, Director of the Institute of Czech and Deaf Studies at Charles University, is currently participating in the UAAT International Young Visiting Scholar Program in Taiwan. Dr. Zasina who is an Assistant Professor specializing in data-driven learning, corpus linguistics, and foreign language acquisition, will deliver a series of lectures in Taiwan hosted by Prof. Melissa Shi-hui Lin from the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at National Chengchi University.

His first lecture, Parallel Corpus in Analysing Czech Spoken Expressions and Their Equivalents in English, French, and Polish (October 22, 2025, National Taiwan University), will focus on using parallel corpora to enhance Czech language learning. The second, Corpus-Based Approach to Social Science (October 31, 2025, National Chengchi University), will show how corpus linguistics can be applied in social sciences, with examples from media and gender studies. The third talk, Exploring Functional Variability in Non-Native Texts: A Multidimensional Approach to Czech as a Foreign Language (November 11, 2025, National Chengchi University), will present a multidimensional analysis comparing Czech learner texts with native writing.

We wish Dr. Zasina a successful completion of his program in Taiwan, which will also strengthen the cooperation between the Faculty of Arts and the NCCU, further supporting the research initiatives of the SCRC.
