As part of his visit to the Czech Republic for Czech Semicon Days, Professor Konrad Young — esteemed guest of the SCRC and former Vice President for R&D at TSMC — appeared on the Czech Television current affairs program Události, komentáře. The segment, titled “Know-how from Taiwan for the Czech Republic,” focused on the strategic opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation between the Czech Republic and Taiwan in the semiconductor sector.
In the interview, Prof. Young underscored the importance of knowledge transfer and long-term collaboration in key areas such as advanced research, engineering education, and workforce development. He emphasized the Czech Republic’s growing potential to become an integral part of Europe’s semiconductor value chain, owing to its strong industrial heritage, technically skilled workforce, and expanding research infrastructure.
Prof. Young also highlighted the necessity for Czechia to define which segments of the semiconductor supply chain best align with its economic and technological strengths in order to build a resilient and competitive position in the global market.
