On May 14, 2025, as part of the Czech Semiconductor Days, a strategic roundtable was held in Prague with the participation of Prof. Konrad Young, internationally recognized semiconductor expert and Adjunct Professor at National Taiwan University. The event, co-organized by the Supply Chain Resilience Center (SCRC), brought together senior representatives from Czech academic institutions, public administration, and the private sector to discuss strategic directions for advancing semiconductor research, development, and industrial integration in Czechia.
The roundtable followed Prof. Young’s keynote speech earlier that day at the Czech Investment Forum, where he addressed global trends in chip innovation and the importance of building resilient, high-performance R&D ecosystems. In his opening remarks at the roundtable, Prof. Young emphasized the critical role of long-term investment in talent development, the need for robust university–industry collaboration, and the strategic importance of aligning national innovation frameworks with global semiconductor value chains.
Reflecting on the momentum within the Czech ecosystem, Prof. Young remarked: “Today I see another sunrise incoming – and that is the semiconductor industry in Czechia.” His statement underscored the country’s potential to become a significant contributor to the next wave of technological advancement in this geopolitically sensitive and economically strategic sector.
The discussion highlighted key opportunities for Czechia to scale up its research infrastructure, strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation, and more deeply integrate into European and global semiconductor initiatives. Participants concurred that sustained public–private engagement, strategic policy alignment, and targeted support mechanisms will be crucial to enhancing Czechia’s innovation capacity in this field.
SCRC was honored to co-host this high-level dialogue and reaffirms its commitment to supporting Czechia’s long-term positioning within the global semiconductor landscape.
