“How to finance Czech Silicon Valley” (debate)

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Faculty of Law at Charles University hosted a successful event titled “How to Finance the Czech Silicon Valley: Legal Aspects of State Aid for the Chip Industry Value Chain”. The session featured expert presentations and a roundtable discussion on the legal implications of EU Regulation 2023/1781, which establishes a framework for strengthening Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem.

 

Key panelists included JUDr. Petr Solský, Deputy Chair of the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition, and Mgr. Libuše Bílá, Head of the State Aid Department at the same office, who provided insights into the regulatory landscape and public support measures. The event was organized by the Department of European Law at Charles University’s Faculty of Law as part of the Supply Chain Resilience Center (SCRC) project.

Participants from academia, the private sector, and the government praised the event for its focus on actionable strategies to foster a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the Czech Republic.
